1st Crete Family Business Forum

Our partners Alexandros Dovles and Dimitra Passiou participated as speakers in the 1st CRETE FAMILY BUSINESS FORUM, which was held on Friday, March 31 by CLEON Conferences & Communications , at the AQUILA ATLANTIS HOTEL (Heraklion, Crete).
The main aim of the Forum was to underline the importance of family businesses for the Cretan and the Greek economy, to analyze their benefits as well as the challenges that they must overcome and to discuss ideas and strategies for a smooth succession and a sound corporate governance in the family business.The Forum was held under the auspices of the Association of Enterprises of the Industrial Area of Heraklion and the Exporters Association of Crete.
Alexandros’ presentation focused on ideas and methods for avoiding conflict in the family business and recommended the adoption of a family constitution, i.e. a formal document that families can use to help them with corporate governance and succession in the family business.
Dimitra’s presentation focused on the challenges and concerns concerning the taxation of succession in the family business, in terms of tax planning, ways of transfer, the share capital increase of a company, the calculation of tax, as well as corresponding examples.
